Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan expressed deep sorrow over the passing of one of Jordan’s prominent statesmen, former Prime Minister Ahmad Obeidat, who passed away on Monday evening after a life dedicated to serving the nation, its people, and the Hashemite leadership.اضافة اعلان

The Prime Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the family and relatives of the late Obeidat, emphasizing that Jordan has lost one of its distinguished figures who served the country with loyalty and dedication during key periods of its history, praying to God to grant him His vast mercy and satisfaction.

The late Ahmad Obeidat held the positions of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense between 1984 and 1985, Minister of Interior from 1982 to 1984, Director of the General Intelligence Department, member of the Senate multiple times, and UN Goodwill Ambassador for the Environment.

He also served as Chair of the Royal Committee for Drafting the National Charter (1990–1991), Vice Chair of the Royal Committee for Human Rights in 2000, Vice Chair of the Royal Committee for Judicial Development in 2000, and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the National Center for Human Rights from 2003 to 2008.

Obeidat was born in 1938 in the town of Hartha, Irbid Governorate, and was a recipient of the First-Class Order of Al-Nahda. (Petra)
