The National Center for Curriculum Development and Assessment is continuing its efforts to strengthen the presence of green education and sustainability concepts in Jordanian curricula. This is being achieved through the development of the general and subject-specific curriculum frameworks, aligning with national priorities and global trends in the "greening of education."

The Center stated that the approved amendments will be reflected in the upcoming editions of textbooks and included in the review and updating process during reprints. This ensures the enhancement of content, activities, and assessment methods related to green education.
The Center emphasized that green education has become an educational and national necessity to prepare a generation capable of understanding Jordan's environmental and climate challenges and dealing with them consciously and responsibly. It aims to shift from merely knowing sustainability concepts to practicing them in daily life and participating in environmental initiatives within schools and the community.
It added that environmental concepts will be distributed through an integrated approach connecting knowledge with behavior and values. Social studies, earth sciences, and the environment will address population, resources, water, and climate issues, while national and civic education will promote volunteering, waste sorting, recycling, and afforestation. Furthermore, Islamic education will reinforce the values of land stewardship, cleanliness, and reducing waste and extravagance, while mathematics will utilize data and ratios to analyze water and energy consumption, pollution, and sustainability issues.
The Center noted that this new orientation focuses on applying environmental concepts to real-life situations and practical tasks. These include analyzing water and energy consumption, studying the impact of waste, proposing solutions to local environmental problems, and implementing school initiatives—all while linking the content to the Jordanian context, such as water scarcity, solar energy, desertification, biodiversity, nature reserves, the Dead Sea, and climate-smart agriculture.
The Center affirmed that this direction does not mean adding a new subject to the study plan, but rather integrating climate and sustainability concepts across various subjects and grade levels. This contributes to preparing students who are capable of thinking, taking action, and assuming responsibility for their environment and community.
