Safadi conveyed King Abdullah II's greetings and the Kingdom's commitment to strengthening ties with Syria. Sharaa returned the greetings and called for wider cooperation across sectors.
In separate talks, Safadi and Shaibani agreed to work toward turning the relationship into a comprehensive strategic partnership and to deepen institutional and operational cooperation.
October summit in Damascus The two ministers reviewed preparations for the third session of the Higher Coordination Council, due in Damascus in October, and progress on the outcomes of the second session held in Amman last April. They focused on converting those agreements into practical steps in trade, investment, transport, customs, water and energy.
Backing for Damascus Safadi restated Jordan's support for Syrian reconstruction on terms preserving the country's unity, sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, and the rights of all Syrians. Syria's stability is a foundation of regional stability, he said.
He welcomed the dissolution of the Syrian Democratic Forces and their integration into Syria's military institutions as a step toward consolidating national unity, and said Jordan supports efforts to reinforce Syrian sovereignty and institutional cohesion.
The ministers also discussed southern Syria and the joint Jordanian, Syrian and American roadmap for resolving the crisis in Sweida and stabilising the south, on the basis of Syrian territorial unity and state sovereignty across the country.
Safadi and Shaibani condemned repeated Israeli attacks and incursions into Syrian territory, calling them violations of Syrian sovereignty, of international law and of Israel's obligations under the 1974 disengagement agreement.
They warned that continued attacks threaten Syrian and regional stability at a point when Damascus is focused on reconstruction and pursuing a diplomatic route to outstanding issues. Both called for an end to the Israeli occupation of Syrian territory.
The two ministers condemned the Iranian attacks on Jordan and other Arab states. Shaibani affirmed Syria's support for Jordan and for Arab states in the measures they take to protect their territory, sovereignty and security against those attacks. They agreed to maintain consultation between the relevant bodies in both countries to follow through on what has been agreed.
