The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates today welcomed the decision by the government of the friendly Kingdom of the Netherlands to ban the import, purchase, and sale of Israeli settlement products, as well as the decision by the friendly Kingdom of Belgium to ban the import of settlement products, considering them steps consistent with international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.

Official Spokesperson for the Ministry, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, emphasized that the decisions by friendly nations to ban trade with illegal settlements constitute an important step and reflect an international commitment to implementing resolutions of international legitimacy—foremost among them Security Council Resolution 2334, which condemns all Israeli measures aimed at altering the demographic composition, character, and status of the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem. This comes alongside the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice, which affirmed the illegality of the Israeli occupation and the invalidity of settlement construction and annexation measures in the West Bank.
Al-Majali called on the international community, particularly European Union member states, to take similar steps that translate commitment to international law and resolutions of international legitimacy into concrete measures. Such actions contribute to halting illegal settlement activities and support efforts aimed at protecting the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people and safeguarding the prospects for a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
Al-Majali reaffirmed the Kingdom's unwavering stance in working alongside brothers and international partners to support the Palestinian people's right to freedom, end the occupation, obtain all their legitimate rights, and establish their independent, sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
