Jordan’s Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC), in coordination with Amman Vision Company, the provider of intelligent transport systems, has begun installing smart transport technologies on buses serving the Ma’an-Amman route as part of the final preparations for launching the service.
The route is one of the second-phase corridors under Jordan’s inter-governorate transport development project.
The installed systems include a comprehensive suite of modern technologies, such as electronic fare payment, GPS tracking, onboard CCTV surveillance, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The upgrades are designed to improve the quality of public transportation, enhance safety and operational oversight, and provide a better travel experience for passengers.
Wi-Fi is among the key features introduced in the project’s second phase, particularly on long-distance routes. The service will allow passengers to stay connected throughout their journeys and provide university students with access to online learning platforms and the ability to complete academic work while traveling.
To support the broader rollout, two technical stations have been fully equipped to install intelligent transport systems on buses serving the remaining second-phase routes, helping accelerate implementation and ensure adherence to the project’s launch schedule.
The second phase of the inter-governorate transport development project will introduce nine main routes linking Jordan’s governorates using a fleet of 210 buses and mid-sized buses equipped with advanced intelligent transport systems. The initiative aims to deliver more efficient and reliable public transport services while improving operational monitoring, safety, and passenger comfort.
The commission said installation work will continue across all second-phase routes ahead of their launch in line with the approved implementation plan, supporting Jordan’s efforts to modernize public transportation and advance the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision and digital transformation in the sector.
