The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) announced the formation of the "Aqaba Tourism Committee." This step aims to enhance the partnership between the public and private sectors, and unify efforts to elevate the tourism industry, thereby boosting Aqaba's competitiveness as a regional and international tourist destination and supporting sustainable tourism development.اضافة اعلان

The announcement was made during an expanded meeting chaired by ASEZA Chief Commissioner Shadi Al-Majali, in the presence of the Commissioner for Tourism and Youth, Dr. Thabet Al-Nabulsi, the Commissioner for Infrastructure and Urban Affairs, Dr. Moatasem Al-Hindawi, as well as representatives from various tourism sectors, government entities, and supporting institutions.

Al-Majali emphasized that the tourism sector is one of the main drivers of economic growth in Aqaba. He pointed out that forming the committee embodies an approach of institutional partnership, aiming to unify visions and coordinate efforts to develop the tourism product, enhance the visitor experience, and upgrade the quality of services.

He added that the formation of the committee aligns with ASEZA's vision to strengthen participatory governance and establish a permanent institutional platform that brings together various components of the tourism sector under one umbrella, thereby supporting the implementation of priority tourism initiatives and projects.

For his part, the Commissioner for Tourism and Youth, Dr. Thabet Al-Nabulsi, explained that the committee will study the current state of the tourism sector, discuss the challenges facing it, propose appropriate solutions, and support initiatives aimed at diversifying the tourism product. It will also work on enhancing marketing, promotion, and investment to help increase occupancy rates, length of stay, and tourism spending.

During the meeting, ASEZA reviewed the legal framework for forming the committee and its responsibilities. These include enhancing coordination among partners, proposing development policies and initiatives, following up on the execution of joint plans and programs, and improving the quality of tourism services and products in accordance with best practices.

The meeting featured several proposals to develop the investment environment, boost tourism activities and events, and intensify promotional efforts. Participants stressed the importance of continued coordination between the public and private sectors to support Aqaba's position as a global tourism destination.
