Five people were killed and 17 injured on Thursday afternoon when a medium-sized passenger bus collided with another vehicle on the Desert Highway in the Sultani area, according to Al-Ghad, citing the Public Security Directorate (PSD).

Civil Defence crews and police reached the site shortly after the crash was reported, the PSD media spokesperson said. Medical teams treated the injured at the scene before transferring them to hospital, and the bodies of those killed were recovered.
The PSD confirmed that a traffic investigation is under way to establish the cause and circumstances of the collision. The directorate has not released the identities of the dead or the injured, the condition of those taken to hospital, the hospitals receiving them, or the type of the second vehicle involved.
