Jordan’s Ministry of Health has announced that it has begun accepting applications from graduates of university colleges and intermediate community colleges holding intermediate diploma degrees to obtain professional practice permits without being required to pass the comprehensive examination.

The move comes in line with recent legislative developments governing higher education and aims to align professional licensing procedures with applicable legislation, allowing intermediate diploma graduates to complete the required professional procedures according to their qualifications and the requirements of their respective professions, while taking into account their cumulative graduation averages.
The ministry called on eligible graduates to submit applications for professional practice permits after meeting the requirements set for each profession through the Ministry of Health’s website. Applicants for the professions of oral and dental health assistant and respiratory therapy assistant, however, must currently visit the ministry in person to submit their applications until these two professions are added to the electronic system.
The health professions covered under Public Health Law No. 48 of 2007 and its amendments that require a diploma qualification include:
Occupational therapy assistant
Nutrition technician
Audiology technician assistant
Prosthetics technician assistant
Physiotherapy assistant
Optometrist
Medical eyewear preparation technician
Optometry, eyewear preparation and lens-fitting technician
Optometry and medical eyewear preparation technician
Optometry and contact lens-fitting technician
Advanced paramedic
Dental technician assistant
Dental health counselor
Associate nurse
Medical laboratory technician assistant
Anesthesia technician
Pharmacy assistant
Licensed midwife
Oral and dental health assistant
Respiratory therapy assistant
The ministry stressed that permits will be issued after all required documents and conditions have been completed, in accordance with the legislation and regulations governing the practice of health professions.
