The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) announced an important clarification as part of its regulatory role in ensuring food and drug safety, stating that it continues technical and verification procedures related to monitoring potential contamination in certain infant formula products intended for children under one year of age with cereulide.اضافة اعلان

Through tracking and reviewing supply chains of the substance linked to the contamination — arachidonic acid oil, which is used in some infant formula compositions produced by Nutricia in the Netherlands — the JFDA confirmed that, in cooperation with the manufacturer, a precautionary recall will be carried out for specific batches of Bebelac 1 (0–6) and Bebelac AR infant formula currently available in the Jordanian market.

The authority clarified that this measure is purely preventive and is being implemented in coordination with the producing company, which will voluntarily withdraw the affected batches from pharmacies under the supervision of JFDA inspection and monitoring teams.

The JFDA emphasized that the batches subject to the precautionary recall comply with the approved Jordanian technical standards for infant formula testing for children under one year of age and align with relevant international regulations. The recall does not indicate a confirmed health risk to consumers but is intended as a precautionary step to allow further verification and additional laboratory testing.

The agency noted that monitoring and verification procedures have been ongoing since the international notification regarding the issue and include additional testing of all infant formula products available in pharmacies. The JFDA affirmed that it operates under a science-based risk assessment approach and in coordination with international regulatory authorities to contain any potential risks and prevent recurrence.

The administration stressed that infant health and safety remain a top priority and affirmed its commitment to strictly enforcing regulations to ensure the highest levels of consumer protection.
