Al-Bedour explained that hospitals equipped to perform cardiac interventional procedures—namely Al-Bashir, Prince Hamzah, the new Al-Hussein (Salt), Zarqa, Karak, Tafilah, and Princess Basma hospitals, in addition to King Abdullah University Hospital—have been reinforced with on-call technical teams available at all times to carry out emergency cardiac catheterization procedures around the clock, seven days a week.
He added that other Ministry of Health hospitals have been linked to these equipped facilities under a defined operational mechanism, whereby heart attack cases are transferred and catheterization procedures are performed directly.
Al-Bedour emphasized adherence to approved and internationally recognized medical treatment protocols, based on clear standards and ensuring continuity of optimal medical care. Under these protocols, heart attack cases are managed in hospitals covered by cardiology specialists, whether from the Ministry’s staff or otherwise.
This protocol comes as part of a plan developed by the Ministry of Health to enhance the quality of medical services by establishing clear frameworks and unified treatment protocols for stroke and heart attack cases, in addition to unifying treatment protocols for all cancer patients across all medical sectors.
The importance of the heart attack protocol lies in keeping pace with the latest globally approved treatment methods, increasing survival rates, and reducing the number of patients and complications, thereby positively impacting public health and improving quality of life.
