Three members of Yemen’s government forces were killed and four others were wounded in a new Houthi drone attack targeting Marib Governorate on Friday, according to a Yemeni military source.

The source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, said the preliminary toll from the drone strike on the Harib area in southern Marib was three soldiers killed and four injured.
The attack came one day after at least 38 government troops were killed and 29 others wounded in Houthi missile and drone strikes, according to two medical sources, in what has been described as one of the deadliest attacks in years.
A military official said the Houthi strikes targeted a military camp in the Al-Ruwaik area of Marib Governorate, as well as camps in Al-Abr and Al-Wadiah in Hadramawt Governorate, near the Saudi border.
Another military official, speaking on condition of anonymity for security reasons, said one missile strike hit government forces during a morning training exercise at a camp in Marib, killing and injuring at least 45 personnel.
The Houthis claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Last month, Yemen became the latest front in the broader Middle East conflict after the Houthis escalated military operations, effectively ending the truce with the Yemeni government that had been in place since 2022.
The group subsequently announced a maritime blockade targeting Saudi ports and began attacking Saudi oil tankers.
The Houthis have controlled large parts of northern Yemen, including the capital Sanaa and the port city of Hodeidah, since late 2014. In 2015, a Saudi-led military coalition intervened in support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government, which is now based in the southern city of Aden.
