According to Reuters, a senior Iranian official said on Saturday that Tehran has put forward a proposal that President Donald Trump has not yet accepted. The proposal calls for opening the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic and ending the U.S. naval blockade on Iran, while postponing negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program to a later stage.

The Iranian official, who requested anonymity, added that Tehran views delaying the nuclear talks as a significant shift aimed at facilitating a broader agreement.
Under the proposal, the war would end with guarantees that neither Israel nor the United States would attack Iran again. In return, Iran would reopen the strait, and the United States would lift its blockade.
Subsequently, negotiations would be held on imposing restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for lifting sanctions, with Iran demanding that Washington recognize its right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes—even if it agrees to temporarily suspend enrichment.
The official stated, “Under this framework, negotiations on the more complex nuclear issue would be postponed to the final stage to create a more favorable environment.”
