$125 Million US-Indian Investment to Establish Pipe Factory Supporting National Water Carrier Project
The Ministry of Water and Irrigation has revealed the establishment of a $125 million US-Indian investment to build a specialized metal pipe factory. This facility will supply the necessary piping for the National Water Carrier Project (Aqaba-Amman Water Desalination and Conveyance Project) and other key national strategic initiatives.اضافة اعلان

According to ministry data, the factory will be built on a 350-dunum site within the Quweirah Industrial Zone, under the jurisdiction of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA).

Production and Economic Impact
The factory is expected to produce an average of 500,000 tons of metal pipes annually. Beyond domestic needs, it will export to regional and international markets, boosting Jordan's GDP and improving the trade balance. Additionally, the facility will produce the pipes required for the Risha Gas Conveyance Project.

The project is set to create 450 jobs across various engineering and technical disciplines, with a commitment that 95% of the workforce will be local through an integrated comprehensive training program.

The National Water Carrier Project
The Ministry clarified that the National Water Carrier is the largest water infrastructure project in Jordan’s history. It aims to transport desalinated water from Aqaba to Amman and other governorates via a 450-kilometer pipeline.

Key highlights of the project:

Capacity: It will meet the safe water needs of 4 million citizens.

Agricultural Benefit: It will enable the treatment of 200 to 250 million cubic meters of wastewater for agricultural use.

Technology: The project utilizes Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology for seawater desalination.

Sustainability: It aims to rely on 30% renewable energy sources by 2030.

The participating companies bring extensive expertise, having established over 260 desalination plants globally. The project is crucial for reducing Jordan’s Non-Revenue Water (NRW) by easing the pressure on existing networks and groundwater aquifers.

Falling under the Economic Modernization Vision, the project is structured so that at the end of its concession period, full ownership will revert to the Ministry of Water and Irrigation as a national asset.
