Acting Mafraq Governor Ahmad Al-Zuhair said Tuesday that, as part of the Interior Ministry’s 2026–2027 plan to develop border crossings, work has been carried out to expand vehicle and bus lanes at the Jaber Border Crossing for travelers arriving from Syria, with the aim of easing congestion and facilitating the movement of passengers.

He added that a dedicated passport control building for bus passengers had been prepared to facilitate their entry procedures, alongside the other measures being implemented in this regard.
Regarding commercial traffic between Jordan and Syria, which has been active in terms of the number of trucks arriving from Syria, Al-Zuhair said a fully equipped yard had been established to speed up their entry.
The new yard can accommodate approximately 200 trucks loaded with goods, he said.
He added that instructions had been issued to establish an operations room linked to the central administrations and the agencies operating at the Jaber Border Crossing, with the aim of streamlining and simplifying routine procedures for travelers and freight trucks.
Al-Zuhair said the measures were implemented as part of a plan directed by the interior minister under the ministry’s vision to develop border crossings, ease procedures for travelers and facilitate freight movement.
