Iraq will not allow its territory to be used to launch attacks against countries in the region, the head of Iraq’s Security Media Cell, Lieutenant General Saad Maan, said Tuesday, adding that investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for launching drones.

Maan said Iraq does not permit any attacks against regional countries, stressing that it seeks to serve as a positive point of convergence in the Middle East and the wider world.
He said Iraq respects and values all neighboring countries, including Saudi Arabia, adding that the necessary measures had been taken and that communication had been established with the Saudi side to explain the steps taken by the Iraqi government.
An intelligence committee has been formed and investigators identified the launch platform from which the drones were deployed inside Iraqi territory, Maan said. He added that the investigation remains ongoing, drawing on intelligence and technical capabilities, forensic evidence, fingerprints and other details needed to determine who carried out the attack.
He stressed that the focus is on identifying those responsible, saying a new approach and direction had been adopted to ensure that no one seeking to create confusion or drag Iraq into a situation unwanted by all parties is given an opportunity to do so.
