Iraq has resumed the entry of travelers and the movement of commercial goods through three border crossings with Iran, the Iraqi Security Media Cell said Sunday, following directives from Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali al-Zaidi.

The cell said passenger crossings through the Al-Shib and Al-Shalamcheh border points resumed at 6 a.m. Sunday. Commercial traffic through Al-Shalamcheh will resume Monday, followed by Mandali on Tuesday and Al-Shib on Thursday, according to schedules set by Iraqi authorities.
The decision followed a review of operations at the border crossings and an assessment of their organizational and technical requirements, in coordination with the agencies and security bodies operating there, the statement said.
The measures are aimed at strengthening border security while ensuring the smooth movement of passengers and commercial traffic.
The Security Media Cell also confirmed that passenger and trade movement with Iran remains operational around the clock through the Zurbatiyah and Al-Munthiriya border crossings.
