Speaking during a dialogue titled “The Future of Syria” at the 2026 Arab Media Summit in Dubai, Al-Sharaa said Syria had transformed from a country associated with captagon production and conflict into a zone of stability.

He said the world had begun to view Syria as a secure trade corridor for supply chains linking East and West.

Al-Sharaa said the liberation of Damascus restored Syrians’ confidence in the state and revived hope not only among Syrians but across the region.

He noted that Syria is currently going through a transitional phase that could involve shocks, adding: “We need to take important decisions whose positive effects will become evident over time.”

Al-Sharaa said the United Arab Emirates was among the first countries to seize opportunities in Syria, noting that Dubai Ports had invested in Tartus Port.
