Protesters carried banners reading “Zionism is a danger to the world” and “The Israeli ambassador must be expelled from Italy.”

They also waved Palestinian flags and chanted slogans such as “Freedom for Palestine,” “We are all anti-Zionists,” “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” and “Israel is a terrorist Zionist state.”

The demonstrators attempted to march toward the Rome Film Festival venue, passing near the Israeli Embassy, but police forces blocked their route.

The police then intervened, using batons and pressurized water, citing the lack of a prior permit for the march.

During the genocide carried out by Israel with U.S. support beginning on October 8, 2023, and continuing for two years, 68,280 Palestinians were killed and 170,375 others wounded, most of them children and women, while about 90% of civilian infrastructure was destroyed.
