NATO leaders have noted that Russia has been testing the alliance’s readiness and strength by breaching the airspace of Poland and the Baltic states. Kyiv asserts that its experience in countering aerial threats will be valuable.
Speaking via video link at the Warsaw Security Forum, Zelensky said: “Ukraine proposes to Poland and all our partners the creation of a fully reliable joint shield against Russian aerial threats.”
He added: “This is achievable. Ukraine is capable of countering all types of Russian drones and missiles. If we cooperate regionally, we will have sufficient weapons and production capacity.”
When asked about U.S. President Donald Trump, Zelensky commented that the American leader’s stance toward Ukraine and European security has shifted. He said: “To this day, in my view, President Trump’s position is truly balanced and supports Ukraine, yet he undoubtedly seeks to remain a mediator between us and Russia to bring an end to this war.”
