He emphasized the importance of independence and impartiality in addressing the issue, according to media outlets.

Nebenzia pointed out that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has revealed the US’ double standards, as it attempts to replace a comprehensive political peace with an economic one.

He accused the US of stubbornly promoting Arab-Israeli normalization while sidestepping the settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian issue.

The Russian representative further criticized the US for obstructing the work of international mediators in the Middle East. He argued that this obstruction only serves to perpetuate Arab-Israeli normalization, undermining efforts to achieve a fair solution to the Palestinian issue.

Record pace of Israeli settlement activity
Nebenzia highlighted the alarming rate of Israeli settlement activity, revealing that a staggering 7,157 housing units have been approved in 2023 thus far.

This number is twice the amount approved in both 2021 and 2022, indicating an acceleration in the expansion of Israeli settlements, he said.

Furthermore, he noted the troubling trend of legalizing outposts retrospectively, resulting in the expropriation of land and the demolition of Palestinian homes.

Rising arbitrary arrests and detentionsThe Russian representative also drew attention to the increasing number of arbitrary arrests in the region.

Since the beginning of 2023, over 2,000 individuals have been detained, he added.
