The DGCA confirmed that it is monitoring the situation around the clock in coordination with the relevant state authorities to ensure the highest levels of safety and security in the airspace.

It also announced the resumption of normal operational activity at Kuwait International Airport and the return of flights according to approved schedules, while maintaining continuous monitoring and immediate assessment of any developments to take necessary measures when needed.

The directorate reiterated its commitment to preserving the safety of passengers and air navigation, urging the public to follow official channels for the latest updates.

Earlier on Thursday morning, the DGCA had announced the temporary closure of Kuwaiti airspace and the diversion of flights to alternative airports as a precautionary measure to maintain the safety and security of air navigation and passengers.

In a press statement, it noted that the closure decision took effect at 4:50 AM, with flights being diverted to alternative airports in accordance with approved agreements and procedures.

It explained that the decision came in light of the security developments in the region and the potential risks they might pose to civil aviation.

In a related context, the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army announced that air defense systems engaged aerial targets in accordance with approved operational procedures, calling for adherence to safety instructions and sourcing information from official outlets.

The Kuwaiti measures coincided with escalating tensions in the region, as the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Thursday that it had targeted military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain in response to recent U.S. strikes, according to the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).

Iranian media also reported that Iran targeted the U.S. Fifth Fleet based in Bahrain.

In contrast, the U.S. military announced on Wednesday that it had carried out what it described as "defensive strikes" against Iran, while U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that the upcoming strikes would be "strong" and "clear," indicating the potential continuation of military operations.

For his part, U.S. President Donald Trump said that the United States would launch a "very powerful" attack on Iran if a peace agreement could not be reached, emphasizing that his country stands ready to take additional measures should diplomatic efforts fail.
