Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned his U.S. counterpart, Marco Rubio, during a meeting held in Manila, against the continued delivery of weapons to Ukraine, describing it as "unacceptable."

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov emphasized during his discussion of the Ukraine dossier with Rubio that "the continued supply of weapons to the Kyiv regime is unacceptable."
This first meeting between the two ministers since September 2025, which took place on the sidelines of an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meeting in the Philippines, comes amid stalled U.S. mediation efforts between Kyiv and Moscow since the outbreak of the war in the Middle East in late February.
He also condemned "the destabilizing policy pursued by European countries that insist on seeking to inflict a 'strategic defeat' on Russia," according to the same source.
Lavrov reiterated that "the Russian side remains ready for a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict," which erupted following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
