Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced on Wednesday that it had activated emergency procedures at Kuwait International Airport after Terminal 1 (T1) was targeted in an Iranian drone attack, resulting in significant damage to airport facilities and several injuries.
The authority stated that the attack caused substantial damage to airport infrastructure and led to the suspension of flight operations, with incoming and outgoing flights being diverted to alternative airports until further notice.
Meanwhile, Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense spokesperson Saud Al-Otaibi said that several hostile drones targeted Terminal 1 at Kuwait International Airport as part of what he described as “Iranian aggression.” The attack caused extensive material damage to the terminal and injured a number of individuals.
In a statement, Al-Otaibi said the injured received the necessary medical treatment and confirmed that the Kuwaiti Armed Forces are closely monitoring the situation in coordination with relevant authorities. He added that the military remains on full alert and prepared to respond to any developments while taking all necessary measures to safeguard the country’s security and stability.
Recent reports from regional and international media indicate that Kuwait has faced multiple missile and drone incidents linked to escalating tensions involving Iran, with air defense systems intercepting several aerial threats in recent days.
