The value of bounced checks reached approximately JD114.7 million in August 2026, compared with JD88.3 million in July, accounting for 3.01% of the total value of checks processed during August, according to statistics from Jordan’s electronic payment and clearing systems operator JoPACC.

The total number of bounced checks stood at around 16,000 last month, compared with 13,800 in July. Bounced checks accounted for 2.9% of the total number of checks processed in August.
According to the statistics, 9,969 checks were returned for financial reasons, representing 62.1% of the total number of bounced checks, while 6,078 checks were returned for technical reasons, accounting for 37.9%.
In terms of value, checks returned for financial reasons amounted to approximately JD65.2 million, or 56.8% of the total value of bounced checks. Checks returned for technical reasons were valued at JD49.5 million, accounting for 43.2%.
Meanwhile, the number of checks processed in August rose to around 556,000, compared with 489,000 in July, marking a monthly increase of 13.7%.
The total value of checks processed in August also increased to approximately JD3.81 billion, compared with JD3.66 billion in July and JD3.48 billion in June, representing a 4% increase from the previous month.
From the beginning of the year through the end of August, the total number of transactions processed through the Electronic Clearing System for Checks reached approximately 4 million, with a total value of JD27.2 billion, according to JoPACC data.
