The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that a fighter from Hamas fired a projectile at one of the battalion’s tanks, which injured the officer, leading to his subsequent death.

Yesterday, the Israeli army had reported that another officer from the Givati Brigade was critically wounded during clashes in Gaza City. Another officer was moderately injured after coming under fire from militants during a military operation in northern Gaza.

These new resistance operations come roughly a week after the start of the latest ground phase of the Israeli assault on Gaza City.

Since the start of the ongoing war in Gaza on October 7, 2023, a total of 910 Israeli soldiers have been killed, nearly half of them in Gaza, with 6,271 wounded, according to Israeli army data.

Amid strict military censorship in Israel, the army faces accusations of underreporting its losses to maintain morale.
