In a press statement on Tuesday, the ministry said that 70 of these deaths occurred after the release of the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report, which officially declared Gaza a famine zone. Among the fatalities were 12 children who died from complications of hunger and malnutrition.

Statistics released by the ministry point to a severe deterioration among the most vulnerable groups, with 43,000 children under the age of five suffering from malnutrition, and more than 55,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women facing acute deficiencies in essential nutrients.

According to the ministry, 67% of pregnant women are suffering from anemia, the highest rate recorded in years.

The ministry warned that these indicators signal a worsening humanitarian and health catastrophe, especially amid severely limited emergency response capacity and acute shortages of food and medical supplies.

It renewed its urgent appeal to the international community, the United Nations, and humanitarian organizations to act immediately to save lives in Gaza and halt the spread of famine threatening hundreds of thousands of civilians.
