WASHINGTON — Late Thursday, US media outlets reported a growing tension among Washington politicians, primarily from the Democratic party, over the handling of Israel’s war on Gaza. Many have criticized how US President Joe Biden is managing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of contributing to a catastrophe in Gaza.اضافة اعلان

Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley has stated that the US is complicit in the famine and humanitarian disaster in Gaza. He emphasized that the US has the influence to address the situation there, and the world expects it to act accordingly.

Merkley has also added that it is unacceptable for the US to rely on the aid system set up by Israel. He calls on the US administration to bypass Israel and provide aid to Gaza directly.

Meanwhile, Democratic Senator Patty Murray asserted that the continuation of Benjamin Netanyahu's extreme right-wing government's war is an undeniable strategic failure.

Israel’s right-wing government
Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren stated that Netanyahu and his right-wing government caused a catastrophe in Gaza. Warren called on the Biden administration to pressure for an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages. She also advocates for linking US military support for Israel to the pursuit of a two-state solution for lasting peace.

‘Flour Massacre’ Democratic Senator Angus King has called on the White House to send a US Navy medical ship to alleviate suffering in Gaza, following what has been called the "Flour Massacre" in the northern sector. This incident resulted in the deaths and injuries of hundreds, most of them critically injured. Chairman of the US Senate Armed Forces Committee Jack Reed has called on President Biden to send a military hospital ship to help the people of Gaza following the recent Israeli massacre.

More than 100 Palestinians were killed, and about 800 others were injured when Israeli forces targeted them early Thursday morning as they gathered to receive aid at the Nablus roundabout north of the Gaza Strip.

Democratic Senator Chris Murphy has stated that the Biden administration should make every effort to temporarily halt Israel's military operation as soon as possible. Meanwhile, President Biden said that the "aid incident" would complicate negotiations over hostages.

On the same issue, Independent US Senator Bernie Sanders has stated that Israeli soldiers fired at those trying to get food instead of delivering aid. Sanders calls for immediate US intervention and direct aid to those in need in Gaza. He emphasized that hundreds of thousands of Palestinian children in the sector are on the brink of famine and that the United States cannot continue to fund Netanyahu's war machine.
