The Social Security Corporation (SSC) announced in a press release issued by its Media Center that it allocated 562 natural death pensions during the first half of 2025, bringing the cumulative total of such pensions to 26,605 as of June 30, 2025.

The Corporation stated that eligibility for a natural death pension requires that the deceased insured person must have completed at least 24 months of actual contributions, including six consecutive months, and that death must occur during the period of active coverage.
It explained that its e-services allow the heirs to apply for the pension online through the deceased’s first-degree relative accessing the insured’s personal account and selecting the “Natural Death Pension Request” service. Applications can also be submitted through the SSC’s unified call center at 117117.
The Corporation added that the pension is allocated to eligible heirs starting from the month of death, in addition to a funeral expense grant of 700 dinars. It further clarified that if the deceased insured was also eligible for an old-age or early retirement pension, the higher pension would be allocated to the heirs.
The SSC also emphasized that the Social Security Law allows heirs of a deceased Jordanian insured to receive a natural death pension even if death occurred outside active coverage, provided the insured had a previous contribution period of no less than 120 actual months, including 12 consecutive months, and that no more than 60 months had passed since coverage was suspended. In such cases, heirs must pay contributions for old-age, disability, and death insurance for the interruption period, based on the last wage subject to social security (not less than the minimum wage). Payment can be made in a lump sum or in installments, and the pension will then be allocated starting from the month the heirs submit their claim.
