Syrian News: Damascus and Tel Aviv Affirm Sweida as an Inseparable Part of Syria
A Syrian government source reported that Foreign Minister of Expatriates, Asaad Al-Sheebani, and Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs, Ron Dermer, emphasized during their meeting in Paris their commitment to Syria’s territorial integrity and their rejection of any projects aimed at dividing the country.اضافة اعلان

The source told Syrian News that both sides also affirmed that Sweida is an inseparable part of Syria and that the Druze citizens are an integral part of the national fabric.

The two parties also discussed the humanitarian situation in the south and agreed on the need to intensify aid directed to the people of Sweida and the Bedouin communities to alleviate the harsh living conditions.

The source added that the sides discussed the necessity of establishing a clear mechanism to reactivate the 1974 ceasefire agreement, ensuring a halt to Israeli incursions into Syrian territory and fostering a more stable environment.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to de-escalating tensions in the south to prevent the region from sliding into open conflict.

These discussions are mediated by the United States as part of diplomatic efforts to enhance security and stability in Syria and to preserve the country’s territorial integrity.

This was the second meeting between the two sides in Paris in less than a month, following their July agreement to continue talks after failing to reach a final accord on reducing tensions in southern Syria.

Reports indicate that hundreds were killed in clashes last month in Sweida Governorate between Druze fighters, Bedouin tribes, and government forces, with Israel conducting airstrikes to prevent what it claimed was a “mass killing of Druze by government forces.”

The clashes highlighted the challenges facing President Ahmad Al-Shara in achieving stability in Syria and maintaining central governance, despite improved relations with the United States and ongoing security contacts between the Syrian administration and Israel.
