Clashes Erupt in Western Sweida Between Local Factions and Armed Militants
Armed Druze factions have taken control of the strategic Tel Hadeed high ground in western Sweida province following clashes with militants reportedly traveling in vehicles belonging to Syria’s General Security, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.اضافة اعلان

The Observatory confirmed that the clashes resulted in the death of one fighter from the local factions, with reports indicating casualties among General Security personnel, who were transferred to a hospital in Daraa.

Tel Hadeed, located in Sweida’s western countryside, overlooks key areas including the town of Al-Thaala and surrounding regions, and commands vital roads connecting Sweida city with its western outskirts, making it a pivotal point for controlling adjacent territory.

Meanwhile, fighting reignited near Al-Thaala, where shelling and heavy weapon fire reportedly came from government-controlled areas, prompting explosions and gunfire to echo throughout various neighborhoods in Sweida city.

A security source told Syria’s state-run Al-Ikhbariya TV that “outlaw groups violated the ceasefire in Sweida, attacked internal security forces, and shelled several villages in the province’s countryside.”

The channel reported that these violations led to the death of one internal security member and injuries to others, adding:

“These attacks coincide with government efforts to restore stability and calm in Sweida, paving the way for the return of public services and normal life.”

The report emphasized that the attacks reflect the intent of “outlaw elements to keep Sweida trapped in a cycle of tension, escalation, and security chaos,” which it said is hindering humanitarian relief efforts in the region.
