Albanese: Shame on Journalists Who Remain Silent Over the Killing of Their Palestinian Colleagues
Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Palestine, criticized journalists worldwide for failing to react to the killing of five of their colleagues in an Israeli strike on Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza.اضافة اعلان

In a post on her X account Monday evening, commenting on the massacre that killed 20 people, including 5 journalists, Albanese shared a photo of a camera belonging to one of the slain reporters, saying:
"This camera should be displayed in the memorial of the genocide that will one day be built, to honor the countless victims of the genocide committed by Israel in Gaza."

She added: "Shame on all journalists who have shown no reaction to the killing of their brave Palestinian colleagues documenting the genocide."

On Monday, Gaza’s Government Media Office announced that the death toll of journalists since October 7, 2023, has risen to 246, after six more were killed—five in the “Nasser Hospital” strike and another in the “Mawasi” area of Khan Younis.

The Israeli army’s targeting of journalists on Monday was the second such attack in less than a month, after it struck six journalists on August 10, five of whom worked for Al Jazeera.

Since the start of the genocide in Gaza, Israel has deliberately targeted critical sectors and humanitarian workers—hospitals, medical staff, journalists, and civil defense teams—despite repeated international and European rights appeals to spare them from attacks.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with U.S. support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, leaving 62,744 martyrs, 158,259 wounded Palestinians (mostly women and children), over 9,000 missing persons, hundreds of thousands displaced, and famine that has killed 300 people, including 117 children.
