The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, announced on Monday that it remains committed to the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement reached in the Gaza Strip — as well as its associated timetable — provided that Israel upholds its obligations.

In a statement, the Brigades said: “The agreement reached is the result of our people’s steadfastness and the resilience of the resistance. We affirm our commitment to the agreement and its timetable as long as the enemy adheres to it.”
The statement added: “The resistance has long been keen to stop the genocidal war and has sought to do so since the early months. However, the enemy thwarted all efforts due to its narrow interests and to satisfy the savage and vengeful instincts of its Nazi government.”
It continued: “The enemy has failed to recover its captives through military pressure, despite its intelligence capabilities and overwhelming power. Now, it submits and recovers them through a prisoner exchange deal — just as the resistance had promised from the beginning.”
The Al-Qassam Brigades stated that “the Nazi occupation could have recovered most of its captives alive months ago, but it chose to stall and persist in arrogance, allowing its army to kill dozens of them as a result of its failed policy of military pressure.” (Agencies)
