Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement allowing Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to join Juventus on a season-long loan.

According to British news agency PA Media, Vicario had been uncertain about his future throughout the summer transfer window after asking Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi to allow him to leave and return to Italy, following three years with the club.اضافة اعلان

Juventus was Vicario’s preferred destination, but the Italian club initially moved to sign Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez from Aston Villa before turning its attention to young Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.

However, following developments in recent days, Juventus opened negotiations with Tottenham last Sunday and successfully completed a season-long loan deal for Vicario, with an option to make the Italian international’s move permanent.

De Zerbi approved Vicario’s departure after goalkeeper Antonín Kinský took advantage of his opportunity and helped steer the team away from the relegation zone with a series of strong performances in the final seven matches of last season.

A move to Inter Milan had initially been considered for Vicario, before the Italian champions decided to take a different approach to the goalkeeping position.

Vicario subsequently became an option for Juventus, but manager Luciano Spalletti had World Cup winner Martínez at the top of his priority list before negotiations with Aston Villa stalled over a disagreement regarding the final fee for the 33-year-old goalkeeper.
