The Jordan national basketball team suffered its second loss at the annual William Jones Cup held in Chinese Taipei, falling 66-84 to the University of California team (halftime 29-49) in the second round of Group B action.اضافة اعلان

The national team struggled to deliver the expected performance during the matchup, particularly amid the continued absence of naturalized player Jalen Harris, who has yet to join the team's training camp.

Amin Abu Hawwas led the scoring for Jordan with 16 points, while Ahmad Al-Dwairi contributed 15 points and 5 rebounds. Mohammad Shaher added 9 points and 5 rebounds.

Jordan currently sits at the bottom of Group B with two points from two losses. The national team is scheduled to face Chinese Taipei (White) at 12:00 PM today, Jordan time.

The team kicked off its tournament campaign the day before yesterday with an 80-74 loss to Malaysia.

The eight participating teams were divided into two groups. Group A features Chinese Taipei (Blue), the Philippines, South Korea, and Japan, while Jordan competes in Group B alongside Malaysia, Chinese Taipei (White), and the US university team. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals after playing each group opponent twice.

This tournament serves as preparation for the national team ahead of the fourth window of the second round of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers. Jordan will face the Philippines and Australia on August 28 and 30 in Manila within Group E, before traveling to Japan to participate in the Asian Games held in Nagoya.

The national team delegation includes head coach Luis Guil Torres (Spain), assistant coaches César Cámara Pérez (Spain) and Naif Asfour (Jordan), video analyst Ignacio Rodríguez (Spain), administrative manager Abdulhadi Salameh, photographer Mousa Al-Awadi, strength and conditioning coach Ahmad Samir, physiotherapist Anas Jarajreh, technical director for national team programs Marwan Ma'touq, and national teams director Mohammad Al-Dabbas.

The player roster features: Ahmad Al-Dwairi, Mohammad Shaher, Ahmad Al-Hamarsheh, Fadi Ibrahim, Amin Abu Hawwas, Seif Eldein Saleh, Hadi Al-Shami, Abdallah Olajuwon, Malek Kanaan, Omar Salman, Yousef Dweik, Yazan Al-Taweel, Yousef Abu Wazaneh, and Rouhi Al-Kilani, with naturalized player Jalen Harris set to join the squad at a later date.
