The round saw Al-Arabi beat Shabab Al-Ordon 1–0, while Al-Jazeera thrashed Daqra 5–1. Al-Baqa’a drew 0–0 with Al-Salt, Al-Faisaly defeated Ramtha 4–1, and Al-Wehdat beat Al-Hussein Irbid 1–0.

Al-Faisaly stand alone at the top
Al-Faisaly continue to demonstrate their readiness to compete strongly for the league title this season, benefiting from the quality of their first-team players and the depth of their bench. They secured a convincing 4–1 victory over Ramtha, handing their opponents their first defeat of the campaign.
Al-Faisaly face a congested fixture schedule due to their participation in the AFC Champions League Two. Egyptian coach Tarek Mostafa therefore opted to rest several players against Ramtha despite the importance of the match, particularly after Wednesday’s 2–0 victory over Oman’s Al-Nahda.
Substitutes Malik Allan and Majdi Attar delivered when called upon, scoring the first and second goals. Egyptian coach Mostafa then made another decisive contribution by introducing Brazilian player Claudio Maradona and Ahmad Al-Arsan, who scored the third and fourth goals.
The round’s results worked in Al-Faisaly’s favour, allowing them to extend their lead at the top to five points over their closest challengers a significant advantage after only five rounds.
Meanwhile, Al-Wehdat continued their revival under Egyptian coach Emad Al-Nahhas, recording their second consecutive victory after beating defending champions Al-Hussein Irbid 1–0. The win gave the Green Team a significant morale boost ahead of their upcoming fixtures.
Al-Wehdat owed their victory to Hamza Al-Naim, who scored the only goal of the match. The defeat marked the first loss for Spanish coach Curo Torres since taking charge of Al-Hussein Irbid, following a positive start to his tenure.
Al-Jazeera star Yaseen Al-Bakhit emerged as one of the round’s standout players after scoring a hat-trick against Daqra and leading his team to a comprehensive victory. He also moved to the top of the league’s scoring charts.
Al-Jazeera’s win came after three consecutive rounds without a victory, giving the Red Devils their second win of the season.
Al-Arabi secured their first league victory thanks to Moataz Obeidat’s goal against Shabab Al-Ordon. Meanwhile, Al-Salt goalkeeper Ahmad Jaidi saved his team from defeat against Al-Baqa’a by stopping a penalty, as the match ended goalless.
Round highlights and behind-the-scenes moments
The end of the fifth round brought the third coaching change of the season. Shabab Al-Ordon announced the departure of Spanish coach Carlos Alberto after the team failed to win any of its first five matches, leaving it as the only club still without a victory. The club said it intended to appoint an Arab coach. Alberto became the third coach to leave his position, following Ahmad Hayel at Al-Hussein Irbid and Wasim Al-Buzour at Al-Wehdat.
Al-Arabi and Daqra ended the fifth round with identical records: one win, one draw and three defeats. The two teams also had the same number of goals scored and conceded.
Al-Faisaly and Al-Wehdat share the league’s strongest defensive record, having conceded just one goal each. Interestingly, Ramtha were the team that managed to score against both sides.
The Al-Baqa’a–Al-Salt match saw the stadium’s sprinklers unexpectedly turn on during the second half. Members of the teams’ benches intervened to direct the water away from the playing surface until stadium officials switched the system off.
Al-Jazeera’s Yaseen Al-Bakhit scored the league’s second hat-trick of the season after finding the net three times against Daqra. His teammate Ahmad Al-Harahsheh had recorded the first hat-trick, against Al-Hussein Irbid in the opening round.
The match between Shabab Al-Ordon and Al-Arabi saw striker Khaldoun Sabra react angrily after being substituted in the first half. He protested as he left the pitch before kicking water bottles towards the main stand.
Two goalkeepers have yet to concede in the league. Al-Faisaly’s Abdullah Al-Fakhouri has played in three of his team’s five matches, while Al-Arabi’s Raafat Al-Rabee has appeared in one match.
The fifth round featured 25 yellow cards, bringing the league’s total to 93.
The decision not to allow Yaseen Al-Bakhit to keep the match ball after his hat-trick sparked widespread debate in sporting circles. He tried to retain the ball after Al-Jazeera’s match against Daqra, but the Jordan Football Association’s general coordinator asked him to return it. Al-Bakhit attempted to persuade the coordinator to let him keep it, pointing out that his teammate Ahmad Al-Harahsheh had been allowed to take the ball after his hat-trick in the opening round. However, his attempt was unsuccessful.
Al-Hussein Irbid player Aref Al-Haj received a red card after his team’s match against Al-Wehdat ended, following a protest against the referee after the final whistle. He was shown two consecutive yellow cards. The total number of red cards in the league consequently rose to five, following the dismissals of Ahmad Tanous (Daqra), Yousef Hassan (Ramtha), Ahmad Assaf (Al-Hussein Irbid) and Mohammad Al-Kloub (Al-Baqa’a).
Al-Salt goalkeeper Ahmad Jaidi saved a penalty taken by Al-Baqa’a player Oday Kharoub, becoming the second goalkeeper to stop a penalty this season. Al-Baqa’a goalkeeper Malik Shalabi was the first, saving a spot-kick against Shabab Al-Ordon in the fourth round.
