Former Spanish international midfielder Xavi Hernández has been appointed manager of the Netherlands national football team, succeeding Ronald Koeman, who resigned following the 2026 North American World Cup, the Dutch Football Association announced on Wednesday.

The 46-year-old manager, who led Barcelona to the Spanish La Liga title in 2023, signed a contract extending through the 2030 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, alongside select matches in Latin America.
