English club Liverpool announced in an official statement today, Monday, that it has reached an agreement to sign Ronald Araújo from Spain’s FC Barcelona.

According to Liverpool's official statement, Araújo will join the English club on loan for the 2026–2027 season, pending a work permit and international clearance.
Araújo, who will wear the number 33 jersey, told Liverpool's official website: "I am eager to play for Liverpool. I am very happy and extremely excited to be at a club with such a rich history."
He added: "I am looking forward to meeting my teammates at Liverpool and getting started. I am ready and motivated, and I believe this was the perfect step for me at this stage of my career."
He continued: "Joining Liverpool was a necessary step for me. As soon as I heard about Liverpool's interest, we moved very quickly. As I said, I am thrilled to be here and excited to start. I am grateful for this interest, and it was the right move at the right time."
Araújo has made over 200 appearances for Barcelona, winning three La Liga titles since joining in 2018—including last season's title—and was awarded the captain's armband earlier this year.
