Sudden Syrian Decision Disrupts Freight Movement with Jordan
The Head of the Syndicate of Customs Clearance and Freight Transport Companies, Dr. Dhaifallah Abu Aqoula, confirmed that Syria has decided to ban the entry of foreign trucks into its territory—except for those transiting—effective as of yesterday, Friday.اضافة اعلان

In a statement issued on Saturday, Abu Aqoula said the decision stipulates that foreign trucks will not be allowed to enter Syrian territory through land border crossings. Instead, cargo transfers between Syrian and non-Syrian trucks will take place within customs yards at the crossings on a back-to-back basis.

He noted that the decision excludes trucks transiting through Syrian territory, provided that customs authorities escort them between entry and exit points.

Abu Aqoula pointed out that the sudden decision has disrupted the movement of Jordanian trucks heading into Syria and will affect Jordan’s exports, particularly construction materials, which are shipped in large quantities.

He also noted that large numbers of trucks—Jordanian and Gulf—are currently backed up at the Nassib crossing on the Syrian side as a result of the decision, calling for swift communication with the Syrian side through the joint technical committee linking the two countries in the transport sector.
