At least 36 cargo ships crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, marking a record high in maritime traffic since the beginning of the war in the Middle East, according to data from the "Kpler" platform, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran.اضافة اعلان

This activity represents about one-third of peacetime transit traffic (around 120 ships per day) through this strategic waterway for global trade, through which one-fifth of the world's fuel exports, as well as other essential raw materials, typically pass.

Yesterday, Monday, ship-tracking data showed that two crude oil tankers carrying just under two million barrels of oil crossed the Strait of Hormuz, in an indication that maritime traffic has begun to recover after weak flows on Sunday due to concerns regarding transit through the waterway.

Separate shipping tracking and analytics data from Kpler showed that two other Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), which can carry a maximum of up to four million barrels of crude, are sailing into the Gulf via the strait today, with one indicating the Iraqi port of Basra as its destination, according to Reuters.

Technical Talks
The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister announced the conclusion of technical talks with the United States within the framework of ongoing negotiations in Switzerland, mediated by Qatar and Pakistan to end the war, state media reported on Tuesday.

The official news agency (IRNA) reported via the "Telegram" application that "Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Foreign Minister and head of the Iranian technical negotiating team, announced the conclusion of the talks between the four countries and the attainment of an agreement on the framework for future negotiations."

The agency added that "it was also decided to form four working groups related to the lifting of sanctions, nuclear affairs, reconstruction and economic development, and monitoring and implementation."
