The Pakistani Foreign Ministry added in a statement that the US-Iranian negotiations have achieved significant progress, noting that mediators will follow up on the implementation of what has been agreed upon.
Technical talks between the United States and Iran concluded on Tuesday within the framework of ongoing negotiations in Switzerland—mediated by Qatar and Pakistan to end the war—according to state media reports.
The official Iranian news agency (IRNA) reported via Telegram that "Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Foreign Minister and head of the Iranian technical negotiating team, announced the conclusion of the talks between the four countries and the attainment of an agreement on the framework for future negotiations."
The agency added that "it was also decided to form four working groups related to the lifting of sanctions, nuclear affairs, reconstruction and economic development, and monitoring and implementation."
U.S. President Donald Trump stated yesterday that Iran had agreed to "indefinite" nuclear inspections, but Tehran denied making any such concession during the negotiations, raising questions about the feasibility of the fragile agreement between the two sides.
The two countries also presented conflicting accounts regarding financial incentives for Iran, control over the Strait of Hormuz, and the parallel war being waged by Israel in Lebanon—all of which are key aspects of the framework agreement they signed last week aimed at ending the war.
Nevertheless, Trump stated that negotiations with Iran are progressing smoothly. "Things are going very well between us," he told a rally in Pennsylvania.
