UN Warns of Deteriorating Humanitarian Conditions in Sudan
The United Nations has warned of deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the city of Al-Ubayyid in North Kordofan State, at a time when the Sudanese Army announced new field advancements in the Blue Nile region, amid the ongoing war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for the fourth consecutive year.اضافة اعلان

According to the UN, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that escalating violence in Al-Ubayyid and its surrounding areas is increasing risks to civilians and impacting basic services, amid reports of the RSF mobilizing significant reinforcements in the capital of North Kordofan State.

Drone Attacks
OCHA stated that drone attacks between Thursday and Sunday targeted several sites in Al-Ubayyid, including an electrical substation and a gas station, disrupting vital services upon which residents rely.

It added that the attacks caused the closure of several medical facilities, including a kidney dialysis center, according to the Sudanese Doctors Network. The strikes also disabled water stations, compounding the residents' suffering in accessing basic services.

Meanwhile, local sources indicated that two main bridges south of the city of Um Rawaba on the road leading to South Kordofan State were targeted by drones, though humanitarian organizations reported that traffic on the road remains possible despite the damage.

Cholera Outbreak
The United Nations announced the continued outbreak of cholera in West Kordofan State, driven by humanitarian access difficulties, insecurity, ongoing displacement, and weak water and sanitation services.

It explained that registered cases reached approximately 700 as of June 16, including 60 deaths, with the state recording 100 infections and 10 deaths since the beginning of this month alone.

The UN added that it and its partners have supported the provision of treatments and medical supplies, implemented awareness campaigns, and established specialized centers for treating cholera patients.

Field Advancements
On Tuesday, the Sudanese Army announced that it had established control over the Al-Bar area in the Blue Nile region as part of its military operations in the eastern sector.

The command of the 4th Infantry Division stated that forces from the 13th Infantry Brigade executed a sweeping operation extending beyond Abdegla and Ashambo, successfully storming and controlling the Al-Bar area after clashes with armed groups.

It added that the operation resulted in the seizure of weapons and military equipment, as well as the capture of several armed elements, emphasizing that forces will continue their operations to secure the area and protect the borders.

Ongoing Crisis
The United Nations noted that drone strikes were also recorded in North Darfur and White Nile states over the past few days, causing civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure.

Reports indicated that one civilian was killed and 15 others were injured after a gas station in a market in the city of Kosti, White Nile State, was targeted last Sunday.

The UN renewed its call to all parties to adhere to international humanitarian law, protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid. The ongoing war, which broke out in April 2023, has caused one of the largest humanitarian crises in the world, leaving more than 30 million people in need of humanitarian assistance.
