The Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced on Sunday the launch of a comprehensive awareness and media campaign, coupled with intensive field control measures across various regions of the Kingdom. The initiative aims to curb dangerous driving behaviors that threaten road safety—chiefly reckless and stunt driving, operating vehicles and motorcycles without license plates or tampering with them, and driving in processions that obstruct traffic flow.

The PSD emphasized that the campaign forms part of its ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and reinforce a culture of compliance with traffic regulations. This comes after observing such dangerous practices recently in several locations, along with videos circulating on social media platforms documenting intentional violations, necessitating intensified awareness and enforcement efforts to curb their hazardous impact on road users.
The Directorate noted that the campaign aims to raise community awareness regarding the dangers of these behaviors and foster individual responsibility among drivers, thereby reducing violations that endanger lives and property, and ensuring a safer, more disciplined traffic environment.
Parallel to the awareness campaign, a set of strict monitoring measures will be implemented to track down and seize violating vehicles and motorcycles, taking legal action against offenders. Additionally, media teams will monitor photos and videos shared on social media platforms documenting such practices, verifying them to prosecute perpetrators within the established legal framework.
The Directorate clarified that legal penalties for such violations could reach up to three months of imprisonment, fines of up to 500 JOD, and the impounding of the vehicle for up to thirty days, depending on the severity and nature of the infraction.
It also stressed that license plates represent a vehicle's official identity, highlighting the importance of keeping them clearly visible and affixed in their designated places, without concealing, tampering with, or making any modifications that obscure their data or identification.
The Public Security Directorate called on citizens to cooperate and contribute to traffic safety by reporting any violations or dangerous behaviors via the unified emergency number (911), the (911) mobile application, the WhatsApp number (0797911911), or the Traffic Department number (0770999030). It reaffirmed that all reports are handled with complete confidentiality and processed according to legal procedures against violators.
