Al-Balbisi said preparedness is not limited to providing technology, but also includes equipping employees and government leaders with the skills needed to understand AI tools and use them appropriately and responsibly.

She explained that the competency framework identifies the knowledge and skills government employees need in the field of AI according to the nature of their work and responsibilities, allowing training and development programs to be designed around employees’ specific needs.

In an earlier interview during the second six-month cycle of the “Artificial Intelligence for Government Leaders” program, Al-Balbisi said the government modernization program includes a key component dedicated to emerging technologies, including AI.

The component focuses on smart digital systems covering all stages of administrative decision-making, particularly legislation, including its organization and management, identifying duplication and overlap, and facilitating legislative amendments.

She also highlighted the launch of the Future Skills Strategy and the development of programs at the Jordanian Academy for Public Administration to transform the approach to learning and professional development.

The programs include the implementation of a service management system to oversee operations and monitor transaction efficiency, in addition to the “Citizen Voice” system, which relies on big data analytics to process between 50% and 70% of complaints and requests automatically and proactively.

The “Artificial Intelligence for Government Leaders” program consists of six interconnected areas: AI fundamentals for decision-makers, responsible AI governance, institutional readiness, AI-powered government services, innovation systems and public-private partnerships, as well as the broader economic impacts of artificial intelligence.
