Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said Wednesday that a police officer shot and killed a minor who attempted to attack him with two knives outside the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade late Tuesday night, describing the incident as a "terrorist attack."

Dacic said the attacker was a minor whose identity had not yet been established but was believed to be from the city of Sabac. He said the suspect attacked a police officer with two knives, prompting authorities to raise the country's terrorism alert level to its highest level, according to Agence France-Presse.
The Interior Ministry said in a statement that the officer killed the attacker in self-defense. The officer sustained minor facial injuries after being stabbed during the incident, which occurred shortly after midnight.
