The Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Kingdom, Khurram Sarfraz Khan, agreed to activate and relaunch the Joint Jordanian-Pakistani Business Council, thereby contributing to strengthening partnerships between businessmen in both countries and expanding the volume of trade and investment exchange.

This came during a meeting between JCC Chairman, Senator Khalil Haj Tawfiq, and the Pakistani Ambassador at the Chamber’s headquarters. The two sides discussed ways to enhance economic, commercial, and investment ties, alongside mechanisms to develop cooperation between the Jordanian and Pakistani business communities.
According to a JCC statement issued on Thursday, Haj Tawfiq emphasized the importance of building upon the distinguished and historic political relations connecting the two friendly nations to elevate economic and commercial ties to the same level. He pointed out that there are promising opportunities to enhance cooperation between the private sectors on both sides.
He stressed the importance of intensifying communication between private sector institutions and chambers of commerce through exchanging trade delegations, organizing business matchmaking meetings, and specialized economic forums, which would allow for exploring investment and trade opportunities and building sustainable partnerships that serve mutual interests.
Moreover, he noted that commercial relations between Jordan and Pakistan remain below expectations despite the remarkable growth witnessed by Jordanian exports to the Pakistani market during 2025. Exports rose by 92.7% to reach JOD 13.3 million compared to JOD 6.9 million in 2024, while Jordanian imports from Pakistan amounted to approximately JOD 37.4 million.
He underscored the importance of capitalizing on the available trade opportunities between both countries to increase the volume of trade exchange. This can be achieved by boosting the Kingdom's exports of fertilizers, phosphates, chemical industries, and food and agricultural products, while benefiting from Pakistan's export capabilities in rice, sesame, textiles, and garments, thereby supporting the establishment of sustainable economic and investment partnerships between the Jordanian and Pakistani business communities.
For his part, the Pakistani Ambassador affirmed the depth and excellence of Jordanian-Pakistani relations at various levels. He noted that His Majesty King Abdullah II's recent visit to Pakistan reflected the strength of bilateral ties and opened broader horizons for enhancing economic and commercial cooperation between the two nations.
Khan explained that his focus in the coming phase will center on developing and upgrading economic relations to match the level of the distinguished political ties between the two nations. He pointed out that there are vast opportunities for cooperation across numerous sectors, particularly food industries, textiles, tourism, and services.
He indicated that a virtual meeting will be held next week with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) to finalize the arrangements concerning the activation of the Joint Jordanian-Pakistani Business Council, paving the way for its relaunch and enhancing its role in building partnerships between businessmen in both countries.
During the meeting, both sides also reaffirmed the importance of organizing direct sector-specific meetings between Jordanian companies and their Pakistani counterparts, as well as exchanging economic and commercial data to help boost trade and investment exchange and open new horizons for mutual cooperation.
