AMMAN — The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation signed six financing agreements and grants during the month of May, totaling approximately €158.9 million. This funding aims to support several strategic developmental projects and programs across the Kingdom, covering human capital development, integrated border management, financial inclusion, energy efficiency in the water sector, and women’s economic empowerment.

According to the ministry's performance report for May, three grant agreements worth a combined €135 million were signed with the European Commission for Mediterranean Affairs. These agreements fall under the framework of the Joint Declaration on the Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership between Jordan and the European Union.
Breakdown of the Signed Agreements & Grants
The portfolio of agreements signed in May spans multiple sectors and international partners:
1. European Union Grants (€135 Million Total)
Human Capital Development: A €30 million grant allocated to support the Human Capital Development Program.
Border Management: A €25 million grant to implement the Integrated Border Management Project.
Refugee Support: An €80 million grant dedicated to supporting Syrian refugees hosted in Jordan.
2. Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) & Financial Inclusion (€14 Million)
Project: “Innovative Approaches to Financial Inclusion in MSMEs”
Partners: Signed with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in coordination with the Central Bank of Jordan.
Funding Sources: A €10 million contribution from the German government and €4 million from the Dutch government.
Objective: To enhance MSMEs' access to a more inclusive, green financial ecosystem.
3. Water Sector & Energy Efficiency (€8.23 Million)
Project: The third amendment to the implementation agreement for the “Energy Efficiency in the Water Sector” project.
Partner: Signed with GIZ, funded via a €8.23 million grant from the German government.
Objective: To improve energy utilization and efficiency across the Kingdom's water infrastructure.
4. Women’s Economic Empowerment ($1.9 Million / ~€1.7 Million)
Project: “Women’s Economic Participation in Jordan’s Floriculture Sector: Overcoming Barriers and Capitalizing on Opportunities”
Partners: A tripartite agreement signed between the Jordanian Government (represented by the Ministry of Agriculture) and UN Women.
Funding: Funded by the India, Brazil, and South Africa Facility for Poverty and Hunger Alleviation (IBSA Fund) with a total value of $1.9 million.
Objective: To boost female participation and livelihood opportunities within the agricultural and floriculture industries.
