The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Saturday, quoting the Director of Corporate Communications at the Syrian Petroleum Company, Safwan Sheikh Ahmad, as saying that the company’s technical teams have commenced oil extraction operations from the recently liberated fields and are transporting the output to the Homs and Baniyas refineries as part of an integrated plan to restore these fields to operation.
He added that the ongoing work aims to return the fields to their technical condition at the time they were liberated, noting that production is expected to reach approximately 100,000 barrels of oil per day within four months, which would have a positive impact on the energy sector and support the national economy.
The agency noted that this comes after the Syrian army recently reasserted control over a number of oil fields in the governorates of Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor, which were handed over to the Syrian Petroleum Company in preparation for their rehabilitation and reintegration into the production process.
