The Jordanian and Japanese governments have reached a joint agreement enabling the Jordanian government to utilize an amount of JOD 169,342 from the Jordanian-Japanese Counterpart Fund. The amount will finance a small-scale water harvesting infrastructure project in the Wadi Araba region of the Aqaba Governorate, designated for the Kingdom's Jordan Valley Authority.

The project aims to assist farmers and livestock breeders in adapting to the impacts of climate change by implementing effective rainwater harvesting techniques to collect and maximize the use of the largest possible volume of water. It will also contribute to enhancing local water availability and supporting rural livelihoods through sustainable solutions for water management and harvesting.
Notably, the Jordanian-Japanese Counterpart Fund was established in 1997 to finance projects dedicated to achieving economic and social development, as well as agricultural activities, alongside increasing food production in the Kingdom.
