U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Monday that the United States will deport supporters of the Palestinian movement "Hamas" and revoke their visas and permanent residency.
Rubio stated in a post on the platform "X" commenting on the arrest of Palestinian student activist Mahmoud Khalil, who had been protesting against Israel at Columbia University, that "visas and green cards for Hamas supporters in the United States will be revoked, preparing for their deportation."
Khalil was arrested inside his university-owned apartment in Manhattan, a few buildings away from Columbia University's campus. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents entered the building and took him into custody. His green card was also canceled, as revealed by his attorney, Amy Greer, to the U.S. agency.
It is important to note that a green card grants non-citizens the right to live and work within the United States.
