Former U.S. President Donald Trump called on Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas to strike a deal in Gaza aimed at returning hostages and establishing a ceasefire.

In a late-night post on Saturday on his platform Truth Social, Trump wrote: "Make a deal in Gaza. Get the hostages back!"—a statement that appeared to apply pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reach an agreement, according to The Times of Israel.
On Friday, Trump said that a ceasefire in Gaza was “imminent.”
While hosting the foreign ministers of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the White House to mark the signing of a peace agreement between their two countries, he added:
“We will reach a ceasefire deal in Gaza within the next week.” (Agencies)
